Doctor gave me antidepressants for "ADD"?

Okay my mother thought I had "ADD" so she had me on some medication that the doctor prescribed. It was called bupropion HCL. (My dad made me stop taking it) so I did some Research and apparently that is an antidepressant? Why would he give me antidepressant pills for "ADD"? So I've been taking depression pills the whole time?!? I just want to know, thank you.
