Why is government investment your answer to all our problems? Americans left alone will do a better job?

The railroads, manufacturing, communication infrastructure, all the advancements in our country are the result of individual, private innovation and "investment. Government just gets in the way of progress. Obama has a one track mind. Let the government take over education, business and research and all will be fine. History simply does not show that his approach has worked or ever will work.
