Questions about becoming a nurse/doctor?

So..I've always had in interest in careers in the medical field, and becoming a nurse, ob/gyn, or pediatrician have always been my top choices. I'm getting ready to go to school at the community college but i have a few things I want to figure out first. Would it be better for me to try and become a pediatrician (4 yrs of college, 4 yrs med school, then internship/residency) or is it possible to take a shorter nursing program and then go back to school after working for a bit to become a doctor? Or would the nursing career be more convenient/beneficial given the length of time it takes to become a doctor? What do you guys think about my two main choices (nurse or doctor)?
