Is an Associate in Arts (A.A.) Degree useful in the work field?

I'm thinking of going to the community college in my area and when i attend i'll be majoring in the Communication Arts – Theatre Option. Which is great for acting, directing, technical theatre or any related career in the theatre. I chooses it for those reason because i want to become an actor, creative writer etc so it obviously a good choice for me but i want to make sure that the degree is something that i can USE.....
