How do New Grad Engineers Place into jobs?

I am a grad Engineering graduate graduating with Engineering Management Masters in the top of my class, and my school doesn't have a active career placement center. I have been applying to a lot of places online, but i haven't heard back from a single one yet. Not even an interview. So i was wondering how do new graduates place into jobs? Or How did you place into your current engineering Job? Thank you =)
